Pledge to Help the Japan Earthquake Victims

Japan Earthquake

As you are more than likely aware, Japan had one of the Biggest Earthquake Disasters in it’s history on March 13th, 2011.  In fact at an 8.9 magnitude, this was one of the largest recorded earthquakes in history.  The tremors itself caused mass destruction especially on the coastal side of Japan, namely the coastal town of Sendai, Japan.

To add even more insult to injury, hours later, our neighbours to the Far East experienced one of the biggest tsunami disasters since the tsunami that hit Phuket, Thailand in 2004 .

My hope is that you will join with me and take the pledge to donate to this most worthy cause as life in that part of Japan will take much assistance in their rebuilding and especially humanitarian efforts.

So, I know a lot of people right now are saying, “What’s a Financial Freedom Blogger doing writing about charity?”  One simple answer for you, because I care and so should you.  In any case, now is the time for us ‘to show up’.  I’ve deliberately set this blog post right before Easter as I wanted to get some donations going to see if I could help spearhead a mini movement of people caring and really showing that we as a human race support each other.

If you know me, I’m a philanthropist at heart and love to Give Back.  I’ve never given money or time to a good cause and not benefited in some way – either through Intrinsic Value or otherwise.  I’ve got something of a secret to share with you as well.  Do you realize the wealthiest people are usually great givers as well?  Take for instance, Bill Gates, Warren Buffett or Richard Branson of Billionaire status.  Gates and Buffett themselves plan to leave most of their wealth to their biggest charities.

Ok, let me cut to the chase.

I personally will be pledging my support to victims of the Japan Earthquake at the Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund.  I’ve always trusted the Red Cross to get most contributions to people that really need it and you can donate securely through their site.  It is my hope that this post will age gracefully allowing many readers to find it and be able to help our Japanese neighbors. I also donate to such causes as Nothing But Nets also – who do a stellar job of getting anti-malaria nets to families that need it.  Malaria is also a top killer in many 3rd world countries so this is a great cause as well.  There are many ways of giving back in that you are still blessed.

I once heard if you have a dollar in your pocket, you are still considered somewhat wealthy to other nations, so please donate to good causes.  Also, realize that I don’t make a penny from the charities above, but instead I’m just another advocate that believes in their work.

For the Japanese Earthquake fund, I will be donating $50.00 and please realize that you can donate as little as $10.00 to make a difference!   Please donate to the Red Cross Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami fund by clicking the link or clicking the Donate button below.
